Nelson and dogs take 10th in Tusty
Homer High School junior Shameka Nelson finished her first Tustamena 100 sled dog race in 14 hours, 8 minutes, for a 10th place finish. The 17-year-old Anchor Point resident has been mushing since she was 5. She intends to participate in her third Junior Iditarod in late February.
