A Kenai grand jury last Friday indicted an Anchor Point woman for first-degree attempted murder.

Laurie M. Kalberg, 46, allegedly shot at a woman with a Taurus .357 revolver, putting a bullet in a window over the woman lying in bed.

Kalberg also faces two counts of second-degree assault and one count each of third-degree assault, third-degree weapons misconduct and third-degree criminal mischief, all felonies.

Kalberg has not been arrested. Troopers have been trying to apprehend Kalberg since Jan. 1. She does not have the gun used in the alleged assault.

Last Friday, a person using Kalberg's name wrote a note on a Homer friend's Facebook page saying she wanted to turn herself in.

According to charging documents filed earlier this month, troopers allege that on the evening of Jan. 1 Kalberg had been drinking with another woman at the woman's home.

Troopers said Kalberg got upset and the other woman locked herself in the bathroom.

Kalberg broke down the bathroom door and kicked the other woman and hit her on the head, troopers allege. Kalberg then smashed a TV screen and got the revolver, troopers said.

Troopers allege Kalberg approached the woman while she was in bed, pointed the pistol at her and said she would kill the woman and herself. Kalberg fired one shot at the window above the woman. She then pointed the gun at her head. The other woman calmed Kalberg down and she put the gun away, troopers said. Kalberg then left in the woman's 2004 Buick Rendezvous. Troopers found the Taurus revolver with five live rounds and one spent round at the home. The Buick was later found near Anchor Point.

Kalberg and her friends in Anchor Point know troopers are looking for her. Kalberg has prior convictions and had talked to her probation officer after the Jan. 1 incident, said Sgt. Dave DeCoeur, head of the Alaska State Troopers, Anchor Point Post. She also canceled her post office box.

Kalberg is about 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighs 145-150 pounds, and has short brown hair and brown eyes. She has several distinguishable moles on her face. Anyone with information on Kalberg's whereabouts is asked to call the Alaska State Troopers at (907) 262-4453 or Crime Stoppers at (800) 478-HALT (478-4258). Anonymous tips can be made to Crime Stoppers, which pays rewards for information that leads to an arrest and conviction.
