The Homer Foundation

The Homer Foundation manages permanently endowed scholarship funds that provide annual awards to area students for a variety of educational endeavors. Applications for its 2012 scholarship are now available. See Schools, page 9, for a list. Contact Joy Steward at the Homer Foundation for more information or if you are interested in establishing a scholarship fund or contributing to one of its existing scholarship funds, 235-0541 or jsteward@homerfund.org.

The Homer Foundation currently manages 41 different funds. All Foundation assets are pooled for investment purposes and the earnings distributed back to the community for charitable purposes.

Applications are now available for the City of Homer Grants Program. This annual competitive grants program is administered by the Homer Foundation and made possible through an annual budget allocation from the city of Homer and earnings from the City of Homer and the Kachemak City Funds, both managed by the Homer Foundation.

The City of Homer Grants Program supports general operating support to Homer-based 501(c)(3) tax exempt organizations that have been in existence in Homer for a minimum of three years, have their primary facility located, and core programs and services offered, within the Homer city limits.

Applications are available through the Homer Foundation, call 235-0541. The application deadline is 5 p.m. Feb. 24.
