Being a pig for reading

Paul Banks Elementary School kicked off its readathon Monday in attention-getting fashion. As the story goes, a pig was stolen from the county fair; pignappers will give the pig back if the students read 100,000 minutes. In addition, if students reach that goal Principal Benny Abraham will kiss the pig. Prizes for minutes read will be awarded at a "Bingo for Books" event on Feb. 24. The event includes a silent auction. To donate to the auction or sponsor a reader, call the school, 226-1801.
