Troopers




Jan. 1

Alaska State Troopers at 1:35 p.m. went to a car crash near Mile 167 Sterling Highway near Homer. Troopers allege an 18-year-old Anchor Point man lost control of his 2005 Ford Expedition, crossed the center line and went into the northbound ditch, causing the car to roll over. Both the driver and his passenger wore seat belts and escaped injury.

Troopers at 6:16 p.m. went to a car crash near Mile 123 Sterling Highway in Clam Gulch. Troopers allege a 60-year-old Homer man lost control of his 1998 Ford Explorer, crossed the center line and went into the northbound ditch, causing the Ford to roll over. The driver suffered injuries and was taken to South Peninsula Hospital. His passenger was not injured. Both occupants wore seat belts.

Jan. 8

Troopers at 3:40 p.m. made a traffic stop on a 32-year-old Homer man in Homer. Troopers allege the man possessed marijuana and paraphernalia and issued him a citation for sixth-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance, marijuana.

Troopers at 7:36 p.m. made a traffic stop on a 46-year-old Homer man in Homer. Troopers allege the man possessed marijuana and paraphernalia and issued him a citation for sixth-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance, marijuana.

Jan. 9

Bureau of Highway Patrol Troopers at 12:58 a.m. stopped to check on a 2001 GMS truck parked in the middle of the road near Mile 21 East End Road. The driver, a 16-year-old boy, told troopers he had stopped so his passenger could urinate in the road. Troopers allege the boy drank alcohol and was drunk and charged him with minor consuming alcohol, minor operating a vehicle after consuming alcohol and driving under the influence. He was arrested and taken to the Homer Jail. Troopers also cited the boy with having an open container of alcohol. The boy was later released to his parents.

Troopers at 4:48 p.m. went to a car crash near Mile 162 Sterling Highway near Anchor Point. Troopers allege a 28-year-old Homer woman lost control of her 2006 Subaru Forester and went into the southbound ditch, causing the car to roll over. The woman wore seat belts and was not injured.

Jan. 12

Troopers at 12:30 p.m. went to a car crash near Mile 92 Seward Highway near Girdwood. Troopers allege a 70-year-old Ninilchik man driving a 2006 Dodge pickup truck north lost control, slid across the southbound land and went into the guardrail. The truck damaged 60 feet of guardrail before stopping. All occupants of the truck wore seat belts and weren't injured. The car had $6,500 in damages. Troopers cited the driver for a minor traffic offense.

Jan. 14

Troopers at 2:22 p.m. went to a car crash near Mile 156 Sterling Highway near Anchor Point. Troopers allege a 64-year-old Homer man lost control of his 1997 Jeep Cherokee and went into the northbound ditch, causing it to roll over. The driver was not injured and wore his seat belt.
