Roger Lewis, 31, and Denise Harris, 20 were plucked from the rocky bluff and the deep snows of Sun Point on Jan. 9. The couple's romantic dream of mining for Alaskan gold became a three-week nightmarish struggle for survival in the wilderness without food, without fire and without adequate clothing. "We contemplated suicide many times," Roger said from his bed at the South Kenai Peninsula Hospital.
