Five of Alaska's best women singer/songwriters perform this Saturday in a benefit for South Peninsula Haven House. The no-smoking show starts at 8 p.m. at the Down East Saloon. A donation of $10 is requested.
Organized by Shawn Zuke of LoveLifeMusic Productions, the concert features Zuke, Melissa Mitchell, Caressa Bohrer, Katy Emerick and Rachel Hollander. The group, Alaska Women Singers/Songwriters for Peace, is putting together a compilation CD with LoveLifeMusic, and plans a tour after the CD's release in April, with stops in Homer, Girdwood, Anchorage and Talkeetna.
"The intention of the tour will be to raise awareness of domestic violence and the availability of local women's shelters," Zuke said.
