William B. Fisher

Jan. 26, 1922- Dec. 10, 2010

William B. Fisher, 88, died Dec. 10, 2010, at the Bowman House in Three Rivers, Mich. Funeral services were held Dec. 16 at Trinity Missionary Church in Constantine, Mich. Son of William Jennings and Ruth Irene Fisher, Bill was born in LaGrange, Ind., Jan. 26, 1922. He grew up working on his family's farm and attending school in southern Michigan. During World War II he served in the U.S. Navy Hospital Corps. He worked as a welder in south Michigan until his retirement in 1986. On Feb. 1, 1942, he married Lois Mary Wolkins; they shared their life for 60 years until she died in 2002. Bill and Lois traveled frequently to Homer visiting their son and his family. In 1990 they moved to Homer and spent five years investing in the community, local church and their grandchildren's lives. He spoke fondly of his memories at Christian Community Church and East Gate Fellowship. With tremendous joy, Bill cultivated a life devoted to his Lord Jesus Christ, his family and his work. He never retired from spiritual growth, investment in his family or service to his community. His presence is dearly missed, but the blessing of his life continues as a joyful heritage.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lois Fisher; son, Kenneth Fisher; granddaughter, Dayna Print; sisters Alzada Fisher, Jacquelyn Grob, Vivabelle Fisher, and brothers Paul, Daniel, and John Fisher

He is survived by his daughters Donna (Don) Schrock of Michigan; Esther (Graham) Print of New Zealand; Peggy (Tony) Lafata of Florida; son Frederick (Mary Jean) Fisher of Georgia; daughter-in-law, Sally Fisher of Homer; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren (with two more on the way); sister, Sharon Pratt of California; brother, Gerald Fisher of Florida; and brother, Duane Fisher of Maryland.
