Library story hour goes traveling

The Homer Public Library story hour is hitting the road. East End Road, that is. This is a collaborative effort between the Homer Public Library, Best Beginnings Homer, Razdolna School and McNeil Fire Hall. A grant from the Homer Foundation also provided support for library staff. Story hour programs are effective in developing early literacy skills, modeling positive literacy behaviors for both adults and children, and creating social networking opportunities for parents and caregivers.

Story hours will be held:

* At McNeil Fire Hall, every Friday from Jan. 11-March 29, 10:30-11:30 a.m.;

* At Razdolna School every other Friday from Jan. 11-March 22, except March 8.

The story hours are free and designed for families with children five years old and younger. In Razdolna, the library staff also will bring books for check out.

Additional story hours will be provided to families at Haven House. For more information, call the Homer Public Library, 435-3176.
