'Resolve to Write' tonight

For the Friends of the Homer Public Library's Get Lit Series, at 6 p.m. today in the fireplace reading area of the library is "Resolve to Write," a gathering of writers to kick off the new year. Writers of all types, experience level and ambition are invited to meet and talk about goals for the year and what went well with their writing worlds in 2012. Celebrate successes large and small and share visions on where to take writing this year. Pizza will be available to share for those coming from work.

Life Drawing Show opens Friday

Celebrate 16 years of life drawing at Bunnell Street Arts Center with a show of work by the weekly Life Drawing group from Jan. 11 to 31 at Bunnell. The show features art in a variety of media by Brianna Allen, Maura Brennin, Jim Buncak, Dave Ellington, Greg Fries, Rich Gustafson, Lee Post, Leo Vait, Sharon Vrla and Gaye Wolfe. Life Drawing meets regularly through the winter 6:30-9:30 p.m. Tuesdays at Bunnell. All are welcome to attend. For more information, call coordinator, Brianna Allen at 235-2662.

Rasmuson awards available

The application period has started for three award programs available for individual artists through the Rasmuson Foundation. Artists working in choreography, crafts, folk and traditional arts, literary arts and scriptworks, and performance art can apply for the $40,000 distinguished artist award, $18,000 artist fellowships or project awards up to $7,000. The awards allow artists time and resources to concentrate and reflect on their art and craft, immerse themselves in a creative endeavour and experiment and explore further.
