A forum not to sleep through

South Peninsula Hospital will offer a free educational forum on sleep disorders and the solutions available for getting a sound, restful sleep. Featured presenter Dee O'Brien, the SPH sleep center manager, will help participants learn to recognize sleep apnea and other sleep disorders, understand long-term health effects of sleep deprivation and discover treatment options that ultimately lead to a better quality of life. O'Brien has more than 30 years experience in cardiopulmonary work and eight years specializing in sleep medicine. She is a certified respiratory therapist and a registered polysomnographic technician. The presentation will be at the SPH Training Center, 203 W. Pioneer Ave., 6 p.m. Jan. 11. It is open to the public. Healthy refreshments and a door prize drawing will be offered. For more information, contact the SPH Sleep Center at 235-0354 or the Education Department at 235-0258.
