Be prepared: School supply lists
Below is a list of school supplies for the different grades in some of the district’s schools. Visit a school’s individual website for any further information.
K-2 — Individual Supplies: (All individual supplies should be clearly marked with your child’s name) Water Bottle, inside shoes (easy to get on and off), 12 by 16 by 6-inch Rubbermaid style dishpan container for holding personal school supplies in child’s cubby (If you took yours home), a sketchbook, set of watercolors, a large Ziploc bag with a set of extra clothes for your child, labeled. Materials and Supplies to be Shared: (Do not need to be labeled with names) A dozen No. 2 pencils, a package of colored pencils and one of colored markers, a pair of Friskars Scissors, two rolls of masking tape, Elmer’s Glue, a $20 supply fee
Grades 3-6 — Individual Supplies: water bottle, inside/gym shoes with non-marking soles, 12 by 16 by 6-inch Rubbermaid style dishpan container, a 2-inch, 3-ring binder to make the home-to-school transition: Zippered is your best bet. Steno pad - 5th and 6th grade only, and composition book for literacy - all grades
Binder (the zip up kind is recommended), two spiral notebooks, two folders with pockets, pens and pencils. After the first day of classes you will know what other supplies you need for specific classes, such as calculators, etc.
Homer Middle School
7th Grade — Colored pencils (set of 12), 3-ring binder with five dividers and zipper, pencils with erasers (Every class), pencil pouch, ruler (metric and inches), solar powered scientific calculator, blue or black ballpoint pen, red ballpoint pen, scissors glue stick, highlighter, notebook paper (regular 3-holed punched, no spiral paper), one box of pencils will remain in classroom, three composition books, a 6” ruler with inches and centimeters, and a protractor.
8th Grade — Four composition books, single subject, scissors, 3-ring binder with six dividers, loose-leaf paper (not paper from a spiral book), pencil pouch to fit into notebook, pencils with erasers, blue or black pens, red pen, highlighters (requisite pink, yellow and green), solar powered scientific calculator, 6” ruler with inches and centimeters, protractor, colored pencils, glue stick, ¼” graph paper.
McNeil Canyon Elementary School
All students need: A backpack with their name on it, cleaning wipes for their desk, erasers, facial tissue, folders with horizontal pockets, glue sticks, headphones or earphones for the computers, a small pencil sharpener with a shavings catcher, pencils with erasers (no mechanical pencils except for 6th graders), scissors, non-marking shoes for the gym, a healthy snack (one box per month), wide ruled spiral notebook, and a water bottle.
Paul Banks Elementary
Kindergarten — Eight large white glue sticks (Avery or Scotch brands), a bottle of Elmers white glue, kids scissors, a box of Ticonderoga pencils, a box of 16 crayons, one pink eraser, a pair of non-marking tennis shoes to leave at school that your child can take on and off independently, a large backpack, a large box of Kleenex. Girls: a container of Clorox type disinfectant wipes, a package of thin markers, a package of thin dry erase markers. Boys: a roll of paper towels, a package of thick colored markers, a package of dry erase markers.
1st Grade — Two dozen No. 2 pencils (prefer Ticonderoga), two large erasers, pencil box (about 7 inches by 4 inches), a 24 pack of Crayola crayons, 10 large glue sticks (Elmers, Avery or Scotch), kids scissors, set of skinny markers, set of four skinny expo (dry erase) markers, set of colored pencils, set of colored fine point Sharpies, spiral notebook, headphones/earbuds, a pair of gym shoes, large box of Kleenex. (Boys) a roll of Paper Towels – (Girls) a tub of cleaning wipes (Clorox, Lysol, etc), a box of gallon size “Ziploc” type bags. Please only label shoes and backpacks.
2nd Grade — Backpack, four dozen No. 2 pencils (Ticonderoga brand), box of crayons, eight glue sticks, child scissors, tennis shoes (for inside use, to stay at school), school supply box, large box of Kleenex (another in January), a box of markers, box of colored pencils, a roll of paper towels, pack of fine tip dry erase markers – assorted colors, large container of disinfectant/cleaning wipes.
West Homer Elementary School
3rd Grade — $10 craft fee, hand sanitizer, backpack with name on it, Clorox disinfectant wipes, erasers, dry erase marker, five glue sticks, bottle of white school glue, two large boxes of Kleenex, markers, three spiral bound notebooks, pencil box or ziplock bag, two dozen No. 2 pencils, colored pencils, scissors, and water bottle with name on it.
4th Grade — In addition to the above: green, yellow and pink highlighters, two spiral bound notebooks, three dozen No. 2 pencils, a pencil sharpener, and optional headphones.
5th Grade — $10 craft fee, Clorox wipes, erasers, dry erase markers, five folders with bottom pockets, three large glue sticks, highlighters, a box of Kleenex, four composition notebooks, loose leaf notebook paper, two dozen pencils, colored pencils, scissors, water bottle with name on it.
6th Grade — In addition to the above: Five composition journals, 3-ring binder, college ruled loose leaf paper, one black and one blue ink pen, sticky note pads in three different colors, index cards, black Sharpie, gallon-sized Ziploc bags.
