LaTroye Lamont Williams



LaTroye Lamont Williams, age 34, was lost at sea Oct. 11, 2012.

LaTroye was born in Portland, Ore., Sept. 9, 1978, He is survived by his momand brother of Portland, Ore., his Homerfamily Ronda Tufares and the Tufares family.

Latroye worked at the docks on the Homer Spit pitching fish and unloading the many boats that delivered to Homer. He finally landed a job on the Flying Ocean.

Homer/Anchor Point resident, Phyllis LaVerne Livingston Ledger, passed away Oct. 20, 2012, at South Peninsula Hospital. A full obituary will follow. A celebration of her life will be held, Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, at 2 p.m. at the Anchor Point Church of Christ. A potluck will follow.





Gaye Wolfe

Gaye Wolfe, 67, passed away peacefully and surrounded by love in the early morning of Oct. 14, 2012, at Alaska Regional Hospital, Anchorage. A gathering to celebrate her life is planned for 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012, at the Kachemak Bay Campus Pioneer Hall, followed by a procession through town, stopping in locations where Gaye contributed so much of her time and passion. The procession will conclude at the Pratt Museum at 5:30 p.m. with a fire-art enactment of honoring and releasing, a potluck and sharing of stories.

Cody Mitchell De Vaney, 17, died Sept. 30, 2012. Services will be held 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2821 East End Road (Mile 2.5 East End Road) with a graveside prayer to follow. A potluck dinner will then be held back at the church at 6 p.m. where everyone who has been touched by Cody can share their thoughts and love.

Homer resident, Mrs. Janice Lynn Smith, 65, died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012, at South Peninsula Hospital in Homer.
Memorial services were at noon Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012, at the Homer Independent Baptist Church, 3614 Forest Glen in Homer. Pastor Glen Harbaugh officiated.

Longtime Alaskan and Homer resident Michael Dobryanow, 94, died Friday, Sept. 21, 2012, at South Peninsula Hospital Long Term Care in Homer.
No services are planned. His ashes will be scattered at the end of the railroad line in Salt Lake City, Utah, in accordance to his wishes.

Don Ronda

Don Ronda

Longtime Homer resident and former Homer City Council member Don Ronda, 81, died Sept. 14, 2012, in Homer. A celebration of life was held Sept. 22, 2012, at the Homer High School commons.
Don was born Nov. 23, 1930, in Fort Wayne, Ind., to Edward and Imogene Gene Ronda. He was raised in Midland, Mich. He met his wife, Arlene Heintzelman, a fellow student, while attending Antioch College, Yellow Springs, Ohio. His studies were put on hold when he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in Germany during the Korean War.
