Homer resident Ms. Patricia Louise Horton, 71, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at Main Street Assisted Living in Homer. No services are planned at this time.
Ms. Horton was born Dec. 24, 1940, in Oregon. She graduated from Taft High School in Taft, Ore. Soon after graduating she attended Linfield College in McMinnville, Ore., for one year. In 1993 Patricia moved to Wasilla.

Longtime Alaskan Sally Christine Rader, 62, died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at Central Peninsula Hospital from acute renal failure.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at Land’s End Resort in the Quarter Deck. Lanny Simpson will officiate. Sally loved the color purple. Please wear something purple to the memorial if you are able.

Michelle V. David

Homer resident, Ms. Michelle Vera David, 45, died Monday, November 19, 2012, at her home in her sleep after a 16 year battle with multiple sclerosis.
No services are being planned at this time. She will be inurned at The Denair Pioneer Cemetery in California.
Ms. David was born Jan. 14, 1967, in Turlock, Calif. She left Alaska soon after she graduated from Homer High School in 1985, where she furthered her education by attending college in San Diego, Calif. In 2006 Michelle moved back to Homer, where she has lived ever since.

Virgil L. Kinney

Longtime Alaskan Virgil L. Kinney, 74, died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at The Ark of Homer Assisted Living.
Graveside services are 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Fallbrook, Calif., with Maurice Pelletier officiating.
Virgil was born Aug. 18, 1938, in Fallbrook, Calif. He moved to Alaska in 1962 and resided in Anchorage. In Anchorage, he worked for Spenard Builder Supply. He retired in 1998.
Virgil moved to Homer in July, 2010. He enjoyed fishing, cars, music and spending time with his family.

Josephine (Jo) Shupert

Josephine (Jo) Shupert went to be with the Lord on Thanksgiving, Nov. 22, 2012, at the age of 96. Born in New York on Jan. 22, 1916, she moved to California in 1940 and to Alaska in 1958. Jo married Ernest Shupert in 1959. They spent many happy years on their homestead between Homer and Anchor Point, where they grew huge gardens and sold what they grew to places like Alaska Wild Berry Products.

Joyce Ellen Brandt

Joyce Ellen Brandt, 58, passed away at 7:30 a.m., Nov. 12 2012, in her home on Kachemak Drive in Homer. She was born on Nov. 6, 1954, in Honolulu, Hawaii.

A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, at Refuge Chapel on Pioneer Avenue. All are welcome.

Daniel Lee Mershon

Homer resident Dan Mershon died unexpectedly of a stroke while on vacation in Maui. He was 60 years old. Dan was born in Portland, Ore., the son of Alfred and Norma (Kent) Mershon. He attended all 12 years at Corbett, Ore., area schools, graduating in 1970. He was active in all sports, excelling in football.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at The Glacier View Baptist Church, 960 East End Road in Homer. Pastor Rick Wise and Pastor Milt Michenor will officiate. An out of state celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, at The Hillsboro Christian Church in Oregon.

Anchor Point resident, Ms. Teela Rae Clegg, 65, died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012, at her home in Anchor Point.

A celebration of her life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at The College Heights Baptist Church, 44440 K-Beach Road in Soldotna. Pastor Scott Coffman officiates. A spaghetti dinner will follow the services. Guests are asked to bring a salad, bread or dessert.
