Michael Anderson Bennett, 19, of Homer, passed away at home on Jan. 9, 2013, surrounded by his loved ones -- family and caregivers -- with "Over the Rainbow" and the sound of the ocean surf playing in the background.
Michael was born Dec. 5, 1993, in Homer. In early 1994, Michael developed a rare neurological disorder, Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome, resulting from a reaction to an immunization.

Homer resident Linda Kay Jandt, 65, passed away quietly Dec. 30, 2012, at South Peninsula Hospital in Homer. Memorial services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at Saint John's Catholic Church. Memorial donations may be made to Saint John's Catholic Church.
Linda was born in Lawton, Okla. She met Kenney Jandt in Nevada. He brought her back to Homer and they were married in September 1981. They spent many happy years on the homestead between Homer and Anchor Point before Kenney's health began to fail. Thereafter, they spent many more years living near and in Homer.

Homer resident Louis J. Landry, 92, died Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at Friendship Terrace in Homer. No services are planned at this time.

Surrounded by his family, Larry Nathan Van Sandt was taken home to the Lord on Dec. 30, 2012, after a hard-fought battle with lung cancer. He was born Larry Nathan Van Valkenburgh in Maryland, N.Y., on March 2, 1958, and was adopted by Dale M. Van Sandt when he was 14. He moved to Homer with his family in 1973. He was a big football fan and was instrumental in getting a petition signed in Homer to push for a football field at the high school.
