Donna Muscia-Fields

Donna Muscia-Fields, 66, transitioned from this life on April 22, 2013, in Homer surrounded by the love of her many friends. A memorial celebration is at 2 p.m. May 4, 2013, at the Alaska Center for Spiritual Living, 929 East 81st Ave., behind Black Elk off Old Seward Highway in Anchorage. Donna’s favorite desserts will follow.

She was born May 4, 1946, to Albert and Sophie D’Aoust in Montreal, Quebec. She remained there through her school years and married Peter Muscia at the age of 21. They divorced several years later and Donna decided to visit her sister Pat in Anchorage in 1974 and fortunately she decided to stay. She graduated from beauty school and worked her magic in many salons in Anchorage and Homer.

Donna’s real talent was making people feel beautiful and loved unconditionally. Her warm embrace was sought and received by all who knew her and many that didn’t. Nobody got away without a big hug, whether or not they realized they needed one. She had a gift for helping others to see the joy in life and the healing balm of laughter from the bottom of your belly.

Her husband Stephen Fields supported her free spirit and remained a true friend long after they separated. Donna had many loving friends in both the gay and straight community and they all appreciated the opportunity to connect with her for the last time at her party at Mad Myrna’s in Anchorage on Feb. 22.

“Thank you to all who came to celebrate her life with her,” her family said. “She will be sorely missed and very fondly remembered.
