Troopers Report

March 6

Alaska State Troopers at 2:52 a.m. went to a report of a disturbance at an East End Road address. Troopers said an 18-year-old Homer man assaulted another man with a handgun while at a house party. Troopers found the suspect at his home and arrested him for third-degree assault.

March 7

A caller at 9:25 a.m. reported items taken from an unlocked vehicle on Noview Avenue.

A caller at 12:46 p.m. reported a possible theft at a Grubstake Avenue address.

A caller at 7:01 p.m. reported a disturbance at a Mountainview Avenue address. Police responded.

Police on March 7, March 8, March 9, March 10, March 11 and contacted drivers parked east of the Bishop’s Beach parking lot and warned them that the area is now closed to vehicles.

Homer Fire

March 7-13

Firefighters and emergency medical technicians went to 14 medical calls and one fire call.

Court records show the following actions taken in Homer District Court through March 5:


Jontomas W. Sullivan, 29, charges dismissed, fourth-degree assault, four counts.

Atz Lee Kilcher, 30, charge dismissed, unlawful hunting methods, taking game using a helicopter.

Joshua Peter N. Shangin, 27, charges dismissed, drunk person on licensed premises, disorderly conduct.

Mark A. Martusheff, 37, charges dismissed, third-degree assault, fourth-degree assault.

Trooper Report

March 2

Alaska State Troopers received a report that a firearm was stolen from a Fritz Creek home. The victim said a Ruger LC9 9 mm handgun was taken sometime in August 2015 while he was away from his home. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 800-478-4258 (478-HALT).

Homer Police Report

Feb. 29

A caller at 8:39 a.m. reported cash was stolen from an unlocked car on Bayview Avenue.

A man at 1:52 p.m. made a 911 call that items at his home were being damaged by his landlord. He later reported his landlord drove by as the caller was walking and dropped off his possessions in boxes on the street. Police contacted the man and advised him of options he could pursue through civil court proceedings.

Michele L. Davis-Aranguiz, 49, charges dismissed, fourth-degree assault, fifth-degree criminal mischief.

Feb. 22

Alaska State Troopers at 2:21 a.m. made a traffic stop for failure to use a turn signal on a 36-year-old Homer man driving a Ford pickup truck on Rustic Avenue in Soldotna. After doing a records check, troopers arrested the man for driving while license revoked.

Feb. 22

A caller at 9:26 a.m. reported a civil issue over a rental house on Hillside Place.

A caller at 9:35 a.m. reported a disturbance at a Hillfair Court home. Police responded and arrested a 48-year-old man for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence.

A caller at 10:06 a.m. reported a person threatened suicide. Police responded and the person was taken to a medical facility.

A caller at 10:55 a.m. reported a shoplifting theft at a Lake Street store.

Cristina Jane Kilcher, 41, charge dismissed, unlawful methods — take game by helicopter.

Lorelie M. Reece, 22, charge dismissed, criminal mischief.

Trooper Report

Feb. 17

Alaska State Troopers at 7:05 p.m. went to a report of an unconscious man who was not breathing at Chapman Elementary School in Anchor Point. Troopers assisted a citizen already performing CPR.  Anchor Point Fire and EMS arrived shortly after and efforts to revive the man were continued to the hospital. After efforts by hospital staff were not successful the man was pronounced dead. Troopers identified the male as a 65-year-old Homer man. Next of kin were on scene at the hospital. No foul play is suspected. 

Homer Police Report

Feb. 13

A person at 1:16 p.m. made a 911 call of a domestic dispute at a Star Lane address. Police responded and found the incident did not rise to the level of a crime.

A man at 1:33 p.m. turned in found car keys.

A woman at 1:40 p.m. reported losing car keys. The keys were found and returned to her.

A person at 2:19 p.m. made a 911 call of a suspicious circumstance at a Lake Street business. Police responded.
