Homer Police Report

Sept. 11

A caller at 1:02 p.m. reported an unwanted person in a West Hill Road home. Police responded and arrested a 32-year-old woman for criminal trespassing.

A caller at 2:15 p.m. reported a person refused to leave an East End Road address. Police responded.

A caller at 4:21 p.m. reported a woman caused a disturbance at the courthouse. Police responded.

A caller at 5:14 p.m. made a “report every dangerous driver immediately” complaint of an unsafe driver near Mile 169 Sterling Highway. Police contacted the driver and determined the person took pictures as they drove.

Police at 5:49 p.m. contacted a 24-year-old woman on the Spit and arrested her on a warrant.

Police at 11:37 p.m. contacted a 27-year-old man driving on Pioneer Avenue and issued him a summons for not having a driver’s license or proof of insurance.

Sept. 12

A caller at 12:30 a.m. reported a person shooting flares on the Spit at the Burning Basket. Police responded.

A caller at 2:32 p.m. reported an injured or sick chicken on Bishop’s Beach. Police advised animal control.

A caller at 5:43 p.m. reported a drunk man rolling around on the ground at a Hazel Avenue address. Police responded and advised the man to move along.

Sept. 13

Police at 1:54 a.m. contacted a 62-year-old man driving on East End Road and arrested him for driving under the influence.

A person at 3:18 a.m. made a 911 call of a driver in a truck towing an object behind it on the Spit Road and Kachemak Drive. Police responded but could not find the truck. The person in the truck had pulled down the Burning Basket with a tow line.

A caller at 2:57 p.m. reported a person driving an ATV in a restricted area near Mariner Park.

A caller at 2:57 p.m. reported an abandoned baby bird on the Spit beach. 

A caller at 7:47 p.m. reported a car speeding on the Spit beach near Mariner Park. 

A woman at 8:57 p.m. reported receiving harassing phone calls.

Sept. 14

A caller at 2:45 p.m. reported an injured sea otter on Bishop’s Beach. Police notified the Alaska SeaLife Center.

A man at 3:50 p.m. reported a trespass issue.

A caller at 6:31 p.m. reported an injured sea otter and two dead sea otters at Coal Point on the Spit.

A caller at 8:27 p.m. reported a bull moose with a net wrapped around its head and antlers on East Hill Road. Police notified the Alaska Department of Fish and Game.

A caller at 9:21 p.m. reported hearing about 10 shots fired in the East Hill Road area. Police responded but could not find anything suspicious.

Several callers at 9:39 p.m. reported a porcupine hit by a car in the middle of Main Street. An officer later removed the porcupine.

A person at 9:42 p.m. made a 911 call that a car hit a moose near Mile 3 East End Road and that there were injuries to people involved. Police and EMTs responded.

Sept. 15

A caller at 7:30 a.m. reported a car-moose collision on East End Road near Williams Place.

A person at 5:18 p.m. made a 911 call that a drunk driver left a Lake Street address. Police stopped the suspect driver and arrested a 50-year-old woman for driving under the influence.

A man at 6:45 p.m. reported someone stole the headlight off his bicycle while it was parked at a Heath Street address.

A caller at 8:52 p.m. reported two people jumped in and out of traffic on Lake Street. Police contacted the people and they said they were waiting for a cab.

Police at 9:11 p.m. contacted a 36-year-old man driving on Pioneer Avenue and issued him a summons for driving while license revoked.

Sept. 16

A caller at 12:50 a.m. reported a suspicious man with a weapon outside an Ocean Drive Loop business. Police responded.

A caller at 9:13 a.m. reported suspicious activity. Police later assisted the Kenai Probation Office and arrested a 20-year-old woman on a probation violation.

A person at 4:45 p.m. reported a stolen bicycle.

A caller at 9:48 p.m. requested police issue a trespass notice to a person from a Bunnell Avenue business.

A man at 8:02 p.m. came to the police station and asked to speak with an officer about a nonemergency issue. An officer wasn’t available and later contacted the man at his home.

A caller at 9:32 p.m. reported four people in a white van on the Sterling Highway who made him feel uncomfortable. Police contacted the people.

A caller at 9:42 p.m. reported a theft from a Pioneer Avenue home.

Sept. 17

A caller at 8:50 a.m. reported suspicious activity at a Sterling Highway gas station.

A caller at 1:03 p.m. reported suspicious activity.

A caller at 6 p.m. reported a theft from a car.

A caller at 9:39 p.m. reported a suspicious vehicle parked on Klondike Avenue with a person dumping trash. Police contacted a 22-year-old man and arrested him on a warrant.

Sept. 18

A caller at 8:15 a.m. reported a theft from a construction site on Soundview Avenue.

A caller at 9:47 a.m. reported a dead sea otter on Bishop’s Beach.

A caller at 12:35 p.m. reported a stolen bicycle.

A caller at 5:47 p.m. reported an aggressive dog running loose that attacked another dog at a Hillside Place address.

Police at 11:53 p.m. took a 36-year-old man into protective custody.

Sept. 19

Police at 12:55 a.m. made a traffic stop on a driver in a Toyota car near Mile 171 Sterling Highway and arrested a 25-year-old man for a probation violation.

A caller at 10:42 a.m. reported a dead sea otter on the Spit.

A caller at 12:39 p.m. reported a truck driver using air-assist brakes in a prohibited area on Meadow Drive near East End Road.

Sept. 20

A person at 1:01 a.m. made a 911 call that a driver committed a hit-and-run crash. The caller followed the vehicle. Police stopped the suspect driver, a 35-year-old woman, and arrested her for DUI and refusal to submit to a chemical test.

A person at 3:59 a.m. made a 911 call that a woman screamed for help from the roadway on Pioneer Avenue. Police responded.

A caller at 8:44 a.m. reported a mini horse loose on Mission Road.

A caller at 3:21 p.m. reported drunk men on the Poopdeck Trail. Police responded.
