State Trooper Report
Alaska State Troopers at 10:03 a.m. went to a report of a burglary at a Brenton Avenue home in Homer. Unknown persons entered the home and stole two walrus head mounts and a tusk valued at $9,500. An investigation is continuing.
Troopers at 9:39 p.m. contacted a 52-year-old Homer man driving a motorcycle near the intersection of Diamond Ridge Road and the Sterling Highway near Homer. Troopers arrested the man for driving under the influence and not having a driver’s license. He was taken to the Homer Jail.
Troopers at 9:41 p.m. went to a Ninilchik home for a reported assault. Troopers contacted a suspect, a 43-year-old Ninilchik woman, and alleged she injured a person she was in a relationship with and then drove away while drunk in a 1988 Pontiac. Troopers said she also did not have a valid driver’s license. Troopers arrested the woman for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence, DUI, and operating a vehicle without a license. She was taken to the Homer Jail.
Troopers at 4:16 p.m. went to the end of East End Road near Voznesenka for a reported robbery. A man was found standing in the roadway wearing only boxer briefs. Troopers said the victim had been run off the road in his ATV by men in a silver Toyota single-cab pickup truck with a beat-up camper shell. Two men wearing masks got out of the truck and then beat up the victim, taking all his clothes except for the briefs and other personal items. The investigation is ongoing. Troopers at 8:33 p.m. went to a REDDI complaint of a driver in a dark SUV passing on double yellow lines and speeding near Mile 165 Sterling Highway south of Anchor Point. Troopers found the suspect car and said the driver crossed center lines on a curve and was speeding. Troopers stopped the car and contacted a 47-year-old Kasilof man. Troopers said the man tried to dispose of an item in his breast pocket. Troopers recovered the item and said it was 7.5 grams of methamphetamine. Troopers arrested the man for fourth-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance and reckless driving and took him to the Homer Jail. Troopers discovered the man was on conditions of release for a recent felony charge involving controlled substances. He also was charged with violating conditions of release.
