Aug. 30

A caller at 10:25 a.m. reported trucks using loud brakes in the Meadow Drive residential area. Police responded.

A caller at 10:37 a.m. reported the use of counterfeit currency at a Sterling Highway business. Police responded. 

A woman at 11:11 a.m. reported a fraud at a Greatland Street business. An officer advised her of her options. 

A caller at 12:07 p.m. reported a theft from an Pioneer Avenue business. Police responded. 

A caller at 12:55 p.m. made a “report every dangerous driver immediately” complaint of a driver on the Spit. An officer was advised. 

A caller at 1:15 p.m. reported information about a person of interest. 

A caller at 1:35 p.m. informed police of possible drugs on campus at a local school. Police responded. 

A caller at 7:06 p.m. reported a possible boat in distress on the bay. Alaska State Troopers and the harbor master were notified. The call was unfounded. 

A person made a 911 call at 7:28 p.m. requesting a man be trespassed from a Ben Walters Lane home. Police advised options. The caller did not report a crime.

A man at 8:02 p.m. made a 911 call of a bonfire on the beach. An officer contacted the man on a nonemergency line and contacted the bonfire participants. All were OK. 

Aug. 31

An officer conducted a traffic stop at 12:05 a.m. A 42-year-old woman was arrested for driving while license revoked. 

A woman at 10:38 a.m. reported the theft of her wallet from a Spit building. 

A caller at 2 p.m. requested information about a temporary restraining order. An officer advised them of their options. 

Police at 5:04 p.m. contacted a 20-year-old woman and arrested her for failure to appear.

A woman at 5:02 p.m. reported illegal ATV activity near Ocean Drive Loop.

A caller at 6:40 p.m. reported employees at a Pioneer Avenue business recognized a suspect in a previous theft. Police responded and arrested a 37-year-old Montreal, Quebec, man. Police also later served a search warrant on the man’s home.

A person at 8:44 p.m. made a 911 call of a possible REDDI driver on East End Road. Police stopped the suspect and arrested a 40-year-old man for DUI.

A man at 10:01 p.m. reported a motorcycle in the ditch on East Skyline Drive. Police responded and searched for the driver. The driver was later found near home and taken to South Peninsula Hospital by a neighbor.

Sept. 1

A taxi driver at 2:54 a.m. came to the police station with a drunk passenger who didn’t remember where he lived. Police helped the man in getting alternate transportation home with a friend.

A caller at 3:51 p.m. reported securing a loose dog at Karen Hornaday Park. The animal control officer took the dog to the shelter.

A person at 9:58 p.m. made a 911 call of screaming in the Ben Walters Lane area and said a man assaulted a woman and then left after threatening another man. Police responded and arrested a 24-year-old man for violating conditions of release.

Sept. 2

A caller at 12:17 a.m. reported a man trying to start a fire in the Jenny Way area. Police responded but the man had gone.

A man at 12:33 a.m. reported two juveniles hiding near a Dumpster on Ben Walters Lane. Police contacted two adult men and found all was OK.

A man at 5:08 a.m. came to the police station and reported a domestic dispute.

A woman at 8:09 a.m. reported unauthorized use of a credit card online.

A person at 7:51 p.m. made a 911 call of a driver in a car on the Spit who had left a home after purchasing drugs. Police contacted the driver and did not see any drugs.

A woman at 10:26 a.m. called to say she was concerned for a large animal in the Jennifer Place area and asked for assistance. Police responded.

A caller at 10:50 p.m. reported hitting a porcupine on East End Road and was concerned that it was a traffic hazard. Police responded.

Sept. 3

A man at 4:33 a.m. reported a domestic dispute at a Pioneer Avenue address. Police responded and separated the parties for the night.

A caller at 11:40 a.m. reported finding a backpack on Freight Dock Road.

A caller at 1:09 p.m. reported finding a purse on Pioneer Avenue. Police returned the purse to the owner.

A caller at 3:33 p.m. reported an unresponsive man in a Spit bathroom.
