June 29

Alaska Wildlife Troopers cited a 26-year-old Homer man for commercial fishing in closed waters in Prince William Sound.

Alaska State Troopers at 2:53 a.m. went to a report of a disturbance at a North Fork Road home. Troopers allege a 35-year-old Anchor Point man was drunk, got in a fight and damaged property in excess of $500. He was arrested for third-degree criminal mischief, domestic violence.

July 2

Troopers at 8:10 p.m. went to a report of a possible violation of a protective order at an Anchor Point home. Troopers responded and alleged that a 23-year-old Anchor Point man who had been served a 20-day temporary restraining order was at the home. Troopers arrested the man on a charge of violating a protective order.

Troopers at 10:59 a.m. received a report that a 1980s GlasPly boat on a trailer was stolen from a Tall Tree Avenue home in Anchor Point.

July 4

At 9:10 a.m. the skipper of a Homer commercial fishing boat reported a crew member got caught in the anchor winch and he was unable to get the man out. The boat was about 1.5 miles offshore of Ninilchik. Ninilchik Emergency Services responded aboard a charter boat and found the crewman, a 55-year-old Frederic, Wisc., man had died of his injuries. The man’s body was taken to Ninilchik. Troopers investigated and said their initial investigation showed the man had been pulling the anchor up with the motorized winch and got his hand and then his body caught in the chain. The U.S. Coast Guard and the Occupational Safety and Hazard Administration were notified. The man’s body was sent to the State Medical Examiner’s office for an autopsy. Next of kin were notified.

July 7

Troopers at 2:55 p.m. went to a Thurmond Avenue home for a report of a person with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Troopers said a 58-year-old Anchor Point man had taken his own life by shooting himself with a handgun. Next of kin was present. The man’s body was taken to the State Medical Examiner’s office for an autopsy.
