Kick off the holiday shopping season at the Anchor Point Senior Center Holiday Bazaar Arts and Craft Fair on Saturday at Chapman Elementary School from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be 44 booths for your Christmas shopping pleasure.
There will be a Kachemak Bay Birders’ trip to Seaside Farms, 4.5 miles out East End Rd., on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. There is parking at the top of the hill and good birding on the walk down. Bring binoculars and dress warmly. This trip is cosponsored by the Kachemak Bay Birders and the Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge. The Kachemak Bay Watercolor Society holds its monthly “paint-in” on Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. at Homer Art and Frame. Local artist Jan Peyton will present a watercolor demonstration. Hospice of Homer will hold its annual Remembrance Gathering at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday in the Christian Science Reading room, which is located on Bartlett Street across from the Pratt Museum. Community members will have an opportunity to commemorate their departed loved one(s). They will have a chance to speak about their dear one(s) plus enjoy music and sweets as part of the celebration. Haven Worship Center on Pioneer Avenue (across the street from ReMax) holds a prayer gathering each Wednesday from noon-2 p.m. through Nov. 6. The emphasis of this meeting is to pray for the nation following the examples in II Chronicles 7:14 and I Timothy 2:1-2. There is no political agenda. All are welcome. Kachemak Bay Equestrian Association is holding its annual meeting on Tuesday, November 13 at 6:30 p.m. in the West Homer Elementary School Library. Presentations will be given by Pony Club, the Phantom Riders 4-H Club, and a slideshow by Sue Robinson.
