The crazy weekend weather of snow, ice, rain, slush and wind wasn’t enough to stop the fast-paced basketball action at Chapman School over the weekend. The Anchor Point school hosted the 2013 Small Schools Basketball Tournament, with middle school boys and girls teams from Aurora Borealis Charter, Chapman, Cook Inlet Academy, Nikolaevsk, Ninilchik and Seldovia giving their fans reason to cheer.

By Saturday evening and a total of 12 games played, CIA took first place in the boys competition, with ABC in second place and Nikolaevsk in third.

In the girls competition, Nikolaevsk took first place, with ABC in second and CIA in third.

Sportsmanship recognition was given to the Seldovia boys team and the Nikolaevsk girls team.

“The support for the tournament was great,” said Chapman Principal Conrad Woodhead. “Parents helped with the concessions stand, hospitality room and raised money for new uniforms this year.
