Two running, walking events set for this weekend in Homer

There are two running and walking fundraisers planned for this weekend:

The K-Bay 5K Run for Leo, a fundraiser for the Children’s Tumor Foundation’s research into neurofibromatosis, will be at 5 p.m. Friday. The course begins at Homer High School and ends at Kachemak City Community Center.

T-shirts are free, as long as they last, for donations of $25 or more. Early entry is online at leosheroes.org.

The 5K Soles for Hospice, a fundraiser for Hospice of Homer’s programs, is being held this year in memory of Doug Schwiesow. Action begins at 11 a.m. Saturday, with registration from 9:30-10:45 a.m. The course begins at the Hospice of Homer offices at 910 East End Road and ends at Bear Creek Winery.

Registration is $20 adults, $10 teenagers, $30 families.
