Hockey plays South, East and Lathrop at MTA Event Center in Palmer on Nov. 10 at 5:30 p.m., Nov. 11 at 3 p.m. and Nov. 12 at 9 a.m.

• Wrestling competes in duals against Barrow at home for Homer wrestling’s Senior Night on Nov. 10 at 6 p.m. Wrestling travels to Nikiski for Nikiski Duals on Nov. 11 at 2:30 p.m. and Nov. 12 at 9 a.m.

Mariner hockey finished 2-1 at the Peninsula Ice Challenge, bolstered by a 4-1 win against the Houston Hawks on Saturday, Nov. 5.

Swim and dive

The Homer girls swim and dive team finished 11th in the team standings, spurred by the third-place result of senior Lauren Kuhns in the 500 freestyle.

• Kuhns finished in 5:24.95, about nine seconds behind champion Camryn Williams of Dimond. Kuhns also took home a fifth in the girls 200 individual medley.

• Rhythm Beckett-Cook placed sixth in diving with 280.05 points.

Volleyball

Mariner volleyball came up short of a state spot at the Southcentral Conference regional competition. Coach Kristie Mastre said she was “super proud” of the team for putting it together at the end of the year. Senior Mary Hana Bowe was named to the All-Conference First Team, and seniors Izabelle Hagge and Malina Fellows were named to the Second Team. Homer won their first game at regions against ACS, but fell to Seward, who scooped up with first state berth in five years.

• Homer 3, ACS 1: ACS won the first set 22-25, but Homer came back to win the remaining games 25-26, 25-11 and 25-17.

• Seward 3, Homer 0: Seward shut out Homer with scores of 25-20, 25-19 and 25-21.

Wrestling

Homer High’s wrestling team won the ACS Invitation with 252.2 points. Bethel came in second with 241 points. Homer won three matches in the finals, compared to Bethel’s two.

• Luciano Fasulo, 126, continues a winning streak for the season of 22 matches. Fasulo beat Bethel wrestler Carl Charlie in the finals in overtime.

• Jared Brant, 128, won against defending state champion Aaron Olson from Bethel. Brant scored two takedowns in route to a 5-2 victory, Perk said.

• Timmy Woo beat Caden Gerlach from Glennallen, using a double leg takedown to win 4-3 in the final 20 seconds.

• Wayne Newman, 106; Tristen Cook, 182; Kyle Well, 195; and Jadin Mann, 285; all secured spots in the finals but came up short, Perk said. Chris Cudaback placed fourth, winning five matches and dropping two to Keegan Stockton of Barrow.
