It was a birthday to remember

Gail Sorensen and her family would like to thank everyone who helped make her 90th birthday at the Elks Club in Homer so special.

First of all, thanks to Paul Hodgdon and the Elks Club for the venue and all the help with preparations. Thank you to Two Sisters for the delicious carrot cake. We want to also thank all the guests for coming and sharing this wonderful event with us. There were people from Minnesota, South Dakota, all over Alaska, and right here in Homer. Gail’s former EMS students were there, as well as countless other friends and family. Lots of people got up to tell stories of their experiences with Gail, and some of the stories definitely made us say, “WOW!”

The food was provided by family and friends, and some snacks were from as far away as Morioka, Japan, where Gail’s granddaughter Ithaca currently resides. Gail’s grandson Parker also called in during the open mic and we were treated to his birthday greetings over the phone. Technology at its best.

Last, thank you to the Homer News for carrying the announcement and helping to get the word out for this special lady’s party. Best wishes to all.
