Excitement for ski season grows

The recent Warren Miller movie fundraiser for Kachemak Ski Club was a big success again this year.  The Homer Theatre showed his newest movie “Chasing Shadows” on Nov. 12 and helped the ski club raise funds and spread excitement about the upcoming season. Ticket sales contribute to annual insurance and maintenance on the hill.

Several Homer and Alaska businesses contributed door prizes or otherwise made the event possible. Homer’s Jeans, Ulmer’s, the Gear Shed, Nomar and the Bay Club gave winter gear or passes, and Ravn Air and Alyeska Ski Resort donated tickets. The Homer Bookstore helped out with ticket sales and the Homer Theatre made their space available. All these businesses help make Homer a great place for KSC and other non-profit associations to thrive, regardless of the snowfall.

KSC will be holding our annual meeting Dec. 3, with an election of the board of directors and pizza for our volunteers. Check our Facebook group, Homer Rope Tow, for location and time and feel free to come and support your local ski hill.
