Fourth of July needs your help

Activities for the Fourth of July — What are you doing? The American Legion Auxiliary is again in the planning/organization stage for the July 4 Carnival for the children from 1-100 years of age (we should include the young at heart). This event will be held on the Fourth of July in conjunction with the American Legion’s barbecue, at Mile 2.5 East Road in Homer.

We are in need of help from our members, and  people in the community. Anybody who would be willing to help with the carnival part — such as: choosing and ordering prizes, cleaning up booths, sawdust for the sawdust/coin pile, weed-whacking the area around the booths, setup and cleanup, putting up and taking down decorations, working in a booth the day of the carnival, face painters, and balloon booth just to name a few.

Organizations can work a booth from 11 a.m. until closing at 3 p.m. and receive a donation for their organization. Games (50 cents) such as Bean Bag, Duck Pond, Fishing and Lollipop Tree; ($1) basketball, Circus Circus, Duck Shoot and Darts, Cotton Candy and Baseball Toss.

We can’t do it without your help. We need to keep it going!

We need to keep this going for the children and, as I said, the young at heart — not everybody wants to go fishing.  It is so great to see the eyes and smiles of  the young when they say “Look what I won!” and the adults at the dart booth determined to hit more than one balloon with a dart and the people sitting on the lawn having a hotdog or hamburger. Also, you don’t want to forget that piece of homemade pie.

We look forward to hearing  from you ASAP — the Fourth of July is right around the corner.

If you are new to the area or have never been here — come on out and give it a try.

Contact Beth at 235-2578 or Donna, Nora or Darlene at the American Legion Post, 235-8864, and we will try and answer your questions.
