A Nice Motel goes extra mile

Most of us living in Homer and Anchor Point drive back and forth down the Alaska Highway every year or so and we all know finding a nice clean motel to stay is somewhat of a challenge especially in Watson Lake, Yukon. Well, a couple of years ago we found, tucked behind a gas station, a perfect nice clean motel with the name “A Nice Motel.” We have been staying there for a number of years and have always had a wonderful room no matter what time of the year.

Last month on our way home to Anchor Point, we left my wife’s bag of insulin and supplies in the room refrigerator and did not realize it until we arrived home. We made a call and sent an email to the owner of the motel and asked  them to ship the insulin to us.

They went out of their way to send it, first, by Fed Ex that returned the box to them after a week stating that they could not deliver drugs out of Canada into the United States. The motel then contacted Customs for directions and finally after three weeks found a way through the Canadian post office to ship the $1,000+ meds to us.

I know it took the owners of “A Nice Motel” many hours to get this done for us and now they will not even take anything for their time and effort. Customer service like this is quite rare. You just might want to stay at their motel on your next time through Watson Lake, Yukon.
