Needed: volunteers to build house

Recently I was informed that Habitat for Humanity is advertising in Anchorage for people who need homes built. I’m in deep need for a house, so I called Habitat for Humanity to inquire about what was needed to have one built. I was informed that the Kenai-Soldotna area builds only one home per year and that Homer gets none built because there are no volunteers to build them.

Now I happen to know that the Homer area has a huge number of volunteers, wonderful, dedicated people who do more than anyone can imagine. My husband is a volunteer, as am I and many of our friends. How is it that there is no one to build a house for someone in need?

Any ideas?
