Recently the village schools of Nanwalek and Port Graham were pleased to host the “Blues in the Schools” program sponsored by the Homer Council of the Arts.  We would like to personally thank Gail Edgerly for her outstanding work setting up this program and overcoming the logistical hurdles involved.   

The blues artist, Michael “Hawkeye” Herman, was really an entertaining marvel and provided the students and parents of our two villages a rare glimpse into the power of music to lift the heart. We wish to go on record as enthusiastic supporters of enriching programs such as this, and once again thank the Homer Council of the Arts for providing such a great opportunity.
