Grant recipient says thanks

I would like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to The Homer Farmers Market Board of Directors, for their decision to include us (L.O.V.E. Local Organic Vegetables and Edibles) as a recipient of the 2013 HFM grant.

Seed production is a tricky business, with many variables, only compounded by our location and photo-period. Prior to your generous donation all watering and amending was done by hand, all wintering over and exclusion was haphazard at best. Due to personal physical limitations I am limited in the amount of activity I can devote to singular tasks.

It is because of your generous contribution and through our inclusion in The 2013 Farmer’s Market Grant, that we saw an increase in seed production of more than 50 percent in 2013-14. I am proud to say that we were able to do more than we expected. Through your help we were able to install irrigation, exclusion and wintering-over areas that have not only returned dividends in seed, but also created the foundation for growth and expansion.

Your presence and careful guidance continues to nourish the hearts, bodies and minds of those in our immediate and surrounding communities. Through your community-oriented foresight we continue to move forward, instead of lagging behind. We are forever in your debt, as the work that we do will impact the surrounding communities for years to come.

Our deepest gratitude,

Ember Jackinsky
