Amateur radio club reforms
South Peninsula Amateur Radio Club, or SPARC, is reforming. SPARC extends an open invitation to everyone interested in learning about amateur radio. We invite current ham operators and everyone considering obtaining their new “ham ticket” as an individual or as a family activity.
The meetings are free, only cost is for your own training materials. You are no longer required to know Morse Code to obtain your license. It is a very cost-effective hobby and sport especially for women, young people, children and folks with disabilities. It is a fun, great way to meet people around the world, learn about all aspects of communications including emergency operations.
When: Saturday, Feb. 1, from 10 a.m. until noon
Where: Homer Library Conference Room
What: Informal meeting to meet and greet ham radio operators; introduce the hobby and sport of amateur radio; provide information for upcoming training classes for ham radio, technician, general and extra classes
Additional information: Ham radio training classes will be the first and third Saturdays from 10 a.m. until noon at the Homer Library from February until May.
Are you a current ham? Join us on SPARC Net, our local area 2 meter repeater at 146.91 Monday evenings at 6:30 p.m.
See you Saturday,
