Homer supports student success

Remember the excitement of opening a new box of crayons, getting your new pencil box organized, feeling ready for school with your new supplies? This fall more than 110 children from the Homer Community Food Pantry were provided with new backpacks and school supplies.

Delta Kappa Gamma would like to acknowledge the generosity of the community shoppers who placed supplies in the donation receptacle at Ulmer’s. Specific recognition also is given to Kachemak Bay Rotary Club, Emblem Club, Lions Club, Homer Downtown Rotary Club, Nancy Vait, Janet Fink, Linda Munns, Milli Martin, John and Donna Sigler, April and Adam Dixon, Deb Smith, Tirzah Parsons, Peg Fields, Bruce and Elizabeth Fortner via Karen Berger’s generosity,  Homer United Methodist Church, Faith Lutheran Church and Christian Community Church for their contributions and efforts. Kudos to Melinda Mutch who inspired members of the Homer Downtown Rotary Club to help us with the stuffing of the backpacks with supplies.

Together all of you sent a heartfelt message to children in need that school is important. Once again, the Homer community has supported children succeeding in school.
