Support funds grooming equipment

Posted: April 10, 2013 - 4:01pm

The Kachemak Nordic Ski Club would like to thank the May M. Benson Charitable Fund, a donor-advised fund of the Homer Foundation, for the generous support provided for the purchase of new grooming equipment for the ski club. The money provided by this grant was used to help fund the purchase of a ginzu groomer from Yellowstone Track Systems. This equipment is now being used to groom the ski trails at the Baycrest cross country ski area. The ginzu groomer has proven to be a versatile tool for grooming in the varied conditions we experience and the addition of this groomer gives us the ability to quickly groom all 30 kilometers of the Baycrest trail system. It will increase the ability of the club to provide the grooming necessary for the excellent skiing residents of Homer as well as winter visitors have come to expect.

The trails maintained by KNSC provide cross country skiing opportunities for all, from beginning skiers to experienced racers.  We invite everyone to come out and experience the excellent groomed trails that our volunteers are able to provide with the help of the equipment obtained through projects such as this.
