William Jasper graduated from Southern Oregon University on June 15, with a bachelor of science degree in environmental studies and an emphasis on earth sciences. He spent his college summers working for the Alaska Department of Fish and Game as a technician, based out of Sand Point, at the Sandy River. Jasper used his summer job location for his senior capstone project, “A Sedimentary Analysis of Samples from Land in the Vicinity of the Sandy River.” His parents are Barb Veeck of Homer and Patrick Jasper of Tucson, Ariz.
Project GRAD holds institute
Thirty-seven students from seven different schools partnering with Project GRAD Kenai Peninsula attended the 11-day 10th annual Summer College Institute at Kachemak Bay Campus, Kenai Peninsula College-University of Alaska Anchorage. PGKP Executive Director Mike Petersen called the program “a great success. The students were actively engaged in learning not only valuable academic skills, but great life skills that will help them succeed in the remaining years of high school and in their education beyond high school.”
