HHS drama class offers laughs with May 15 performance

Posted: May 8, 2013 - 5:03pm

Wrapping up the school year, Homer High School’s 15-student drama class is inviting the public to a performance at 355 W. Pioneer Ave., at 7 p.m. May 15.

To be performed are:

•“Chicago ERR” by Linda R. Karcz;

•“Philip Glass Buys a Loaf of Bread” by David Ives;

•“The Road to Ruin” by Richard Dresser;

•“Missed Connections” by Ira Brodsky and Barbara Lhota; and

• “Arabian Nights” by David Ives.

“There aren’t really lead roles since we’re doing five different plays,” Amy Christianson, HHS drama teacher, said of parts played by students in grades 9-12.

Christianson is directing “Chicago ERR,” “Missed Connections” and “Arabian Nights.” Sydney Paulino is directing “Philip Glass Buys a Loaf of Bread” and Carly McLean is directing “The Road to Ruin.”

“These are comedies,” said Christianson. “Two are absurdist, so come prepared to see some really cool interpretations.”

While most of the costumes are traditional dress, the scrubs used in “Chicago ERR’ were provided by the Ark Assisted Living.

Tickets are $8 adult, $5 students and seniors and available at the door. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
