Kenai Peninsula Borough School District

Pre-Kindergarden Title I Assessments

Children who will be four years old by Sept. 1 may attend pre-kindergarten classes at their local area school in the fall. Parents and guardians must:

1. Contact their local area school to scheule a Pre-K assessment;

2. Complete a Pre-K application available at the school office or on the web at http://bit/ly/PreKapplications;

3. Return the application to your neighborhood school and schedule an assessment:

Screening dates are:

May 9: Chapman, 235-8671;

May 16: Paul Banks Elementary, 226-1801.

Chapman School

April 19: Vacation day, no school.

Fireweed Academy

April 19: No school, vacation day.

Little Fireweed (grades K-2)

April 18: Family Literacy Fair, 3-4 p.m.

Big Fireweed (grades 3-6)

April 12: Broomball, bring helmets, Kevin Bell Arena, 9-11 a.m.

April 12: Annie Van Dinther, polar bear conservation and slide show.

Homer High School

The following students earned awards in the Kenai Peninsula Borough Art Show: Hayden Chase, first place sculpture; Haley Kinnard, first place painting; Brian Rowe, second place ceramics; Chelsea Marsh, third place photogrpahy. 

Homer Middle School

April 12: Track at Kenai Invite, 3-5 p.m.

April 18: Track at Soldotna Invite, 3-5 p.m.

April 19: Vacation day, no school.

McNeil Canyon Elementary School

Today: PIcture day.

April 17: Kindergarten registration and open house.

April 19: Vacation day, no school.

Ninilchik School

Today: Open house, 7 p.m.

April 19: School in session.

Paul Banks Elementary School

Through today: Kindergarten and new student registration.

April 13: PTA garage sale.

April 16: Spring musical, Mariner Theatre, 1 p.m.

April 19: Vacation day, no school

Voznesenka School

April 12: High school students attend “Twelfth Night,” Homer High School.

April 18-21: 18th annual Head of the Youth Court conference in Homer.

West Homer Elementary School

Today: Sixth-grade band, 2:40 p.m.

Today: PTO, 6:30 p.m.

April 12: Picture day, 9 a.m.

April 12: Field trip for Maslow classroom, Homer Harbor, 9-11:30 a.m.

April 12: Field trip for sixth-graders to Kenai Peninsula College, 10 a.m.-2:45 p.m.
