Hospice of Homer awarded Rasmuson Foundation grant

Hospice of Homer has been awarded a $24,955 grant from the Rasmuson Foundation. The funds will purchase up-to-date technology.

“With a robust technology infrastructure, hospice staff efficiency will increase resulting in more effective service provision. As the need for Hospice of Homer programs continues to increase, an up-to-date technology infrastructure is a vital part of the organizational foundation which supports the provision of compassionate, community-wide, free of charge service,” according to a press release.

Established in 1985, Hospice of Homer is a nonprofit organization that provides services to residents of the southern Kenai Peninsula.

“Hospice of Homer is much more than an end-of- life program; hospice provides ‘compassion in action’ by meeting a variety of other community needs. In addition to providing support to individuals and families experiencing end stage illness or the transition process of dying, hospice supports the frail and isolated through the volunteer visitor program; provides the loan of durable medical equipment and disposable products through the medical equipment loan program and provides grief support through the bereavement program,” according to the release.

“Hospice of Homer is grateful to the Rasmuson Foundation for their recent, generous contribution. With the updated technology provided by the grant, Hospice can more effectively meet the increasing needs of the general community as well as HOH clients. We Alaskans are fortunate to have the Rasmuson Foundation as a catalyst that promotes a better life for us all,” said Darlene Hilderbrand, Hospice of Homer’s executive director.
