Cleaning up Homer

Prizes for Cleanup Day, an annual event organized by the Homer Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center with 117 participants this year, went to:

• Individual-family: first, Shirley Fedora; second, Jenny Lemieux; third, the Sweeney family.

• Group: first, HoWL with 68 participants, 132 bags of recycling, 705 bags of garbage and 42 tires; second, Boy Scout Pack 555; third, Boy Scout Troop 555. 

• Bicycles: Highley Watson, Diane Lemieux, Haley Owen and Carleigh Nevak.

Having adopted Karen Hornaday Park, a Church on the Rock work crew, as well as other community volunteers, spent Saturday sprucing up the playground, picnic area and fields.
