Down, but not forgotten

The Surfbird sinks off the Deep Water Dock on Saturday afternoon. A salvage crew was attempting to refloat the boat this week and tow it to the barge landing by Pier One Theatre, but as of Wednesday morning had not yet moved it to the beach. Divers plugged fuel tanks to prevent a spill, and the owner placed a boom around the boat to collect any leaks. The U.S. Coast Guard asked vessels to stay 300 meters or 985 feet away from the boat while divers are working on it.
