Come one, Come all!

At 3 p.m., Gov. Sean Parnell will turn a valve at South Peninsula Hospital, marking the flow of natural gas into the first public building in Homer’s Natural Gas Special Assessment District. The public is invited to a brief ceremony to hear comments by individuals instrumental in the project.

From 4-7 p.m., the first governor’s picnic in Homer will be held at Karen Hornaday Park, with Parnell, his wife, Sandy, and members of his administration serving picnic fare to area residents. Numerous state agencies will provide information. Activities are planned for the kids.

Shuttle transportation will be provided between parking areas along Bartlett Street and West Fairview Avenue and the valve-turning and picnic.
