New nurse practitioner welcomed to Homer

South Peninsula Hospital and South Peninsula Behavioral Health welcome Donna Rollins, a board-certified family psychiatric nurse practitioner who specializes in children, adolescents and young adults. Rollins received her nurse practitioner degree at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn., and most recently practiced in Spokane, Wash.

She uses her skills to address mental health issues. Treated conditions include, but are not limited to anxiety, depression, ADHD, schizophrenia and bipolar disorders. Her expertise will be used as part of the primary care at Homer Medical Center, through client visits at The Center and by appointment with physician referral.

Providing improved access to mental health services is part of Homer Medical Center’s transition to a Patient Centered Medical Home, or PCMH. A component of being a PCMH is offering same-day behavioral health care, which is now made possible by a partnership with South Peninsula Behavioral Health and the hospital.
