Open enrollment for Health Insurance Marketplace starts Nov. 15

Open enrollment in the Health Insurance Marketplace begins Saturday, Nov. 15, and financial help is available to offset the cost of insurance. Eighty-eight percent of Alaskans who applied last year were eligible for cost savings. Alaskans who have already signed up for insurance through the Marketplace will have through Dec. 15 to make changes to their coverage. Changes to current plans go into effect Jan. 1.

Those who have not yet signed up for health insurance can do so during the open enrollment period, Nov. 15, 2014, through Feb. 15, 2015.

“If you need assistance setting up an account on the Health Insurance Marketplace website and exploring your options and eligibility for cost saving reductions, we are here to assist you,” said Emiley Sue Faris of SVT Health & Wellness. “We are trained to help you navigate the process of getting yourself covered.”

Anyone is welcome to use the free, confidential service at SVT Health & Wellness, whether a current patient or not. The public also is welcome to a free Marketplace question and answer session from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Nov. 13 at 880 East End Road.
