The 21st annual Kachemak Board of Realtors’ Christmas party will be at
6:30 p.m. Dec. 7 at Wasabi’s.
The community is invited. Cost is $35 per person. There will be a cash bar.
“This will be a casual, fun evening for connecting with friends and colleagues,” says Gina Pelaia, event organizer.

The evening will include music, a brief live auction and a silent auction of items donated by local businesses and individuals. Proceeds from the auctions will go to Hospice of Homer, the Homer Community Food Pantry and Kach-a-kid Foster Care Children’s Program. Scholarships also will be given to three local high school graduates.
Those attending are asked to make a donation of nonperishable food to the food pantry.
Food for the evening will be an Asian buffet that includes an assortment of sushi rolls, salmon poke, crab ragoons, fried rice, teriyaki chicken skewers, kalbi beef short rib lettuce wraps, shrimp spring rolls, pork and vegetable chow mein noodles, Hunan chicken and almond cookies with ginger creme dipped in white chocolate.
In addition, the Kachemak Board of Realtors is taking donations all year for backpacks for foster children.
Items requested include backpacks; school supplies such as erasers, pencils, pens, rulers, crayons, paper, markers, books and glue sticks; personal care items such as shampoo, soap, underwear, diapers, diaper wipes, pacifiers, baby bottles, toothbrushes and toothpaste; clothes including coats, hats, mittens, gloves, socks, T-shirts and sweatpants; small toys such as stuffed animals and Beanie Babies; and other items like blankets, water bottles and nightlights. Children who will use the items range in age from newborns to 17 years old. Donations can be dropped off at Bay Realty, 331 E. Pioneeer Ave., or First American Title, 265 Pioneer Ave.
The Realtors adopted the foster care program after discovering there are 55 foster children from Homer to Anchor Point, who often must leave their homes without anything. The Realtors are working with the Office of Children’s Services to distribute the items to children who need them.
