With the Affordable Care Act beginning, all Americans must obtain health insurance. For many, navigating the new health insurance marketplace can be intimidating.

That’s where Emiley Sue Faris comes in. Faris is the outreach enrollment coordinator at SVT Health & Wellness in Homer. Along with two outreach and eligibility specialists, Faris’ goal is to make getting the proper coverage as easy as possible.

“My staff and I are trained to help people through the process,” she said of the free service offered at SVT Health & Wellness. “We’ll show them their health insurance options, find out if they are eligible for financial assistance and guide them with the application.”

The one-on-one, confidential service is open to everyone, regardless of where they currently get medical care now or in the future.

“Every state has people trained and certified to help folks understand their health coverage options,” Faris said. “We’re pleased to offer this service here in the Homer area.”

SVT Health & Wellness also will have an information table covering the Health Insurance Marketplace at the upcoming Rotary Health Fair on Saturday, Nov. 2.

Open Enrollment started Oct. 1 and ends on March 31, 2014. Coverage starts as soon as Jan. 1, 2014. More information can be found at HealthCare.gov or by calling 1-800-318-2596.

To schedule an appointment with Faris or one of the other specialists at SVT, call 226-2228.
