Homer Eye Care will have a Designer Frame Trunk Show from 10 a.m.-7p.m. today at its office in the Point of View Plaza, 3726 Lake St., Suite A.

The show follows Dr. Andrew Peter’s visit in mid-March to the International Vision Expo and Conference in New York and will bring new European vendors not yet discovered in Alaska to the Homer market, according to a press release from Homer Eye Care.

Some of the newest collections are Mad in Italy, an Italian company based in Alano di Piave in the Belluno province, and C-Zone Fusion Eye Fashion located in the Netherlands.

“… (W)hether you’re an environmentalist, an artist or a carpenter, there will be frame options to meet your needs,” according to the release.

In addition to the designer frames, Homer Eye Care recently has added the most modern generation of Optical Coherence Tomography, a type of imaging technology, to Homer Eye Care’s equipment. It is used to diagnose and follow treatment in many common eye conditions and diseases, including macular degeneration and glaucoma. The practice also has added a Zeiss i. Terminal, a laser-guided camera, that benefits patients with more accurately fit lenses, optimum vision and reduced eye strain, according to the release.

“The quality of care and product remains in the forefront of Homer Eye Care, so that means constant training and upgrading the technology and products which ensures the best for the Homer community,” according to the release.

Dr. Peter joined Homer Eye Care in August 2010.

Originally from Iowa, he spent a number of years as a climbing guide in McCarthy and Valdez. The combination of recreation and sense of community drew him to Homer. Outside of his practice, he enjoys cycling, backcountry skiing, aviation and traveling. He plans a visit to the Cordillera Blanca mountain range of Peru later this year.
