Kizzia book in paperback

Homer writer Tom Kizzia’s best-selling book, “Pilgrim’s Wilderness,” has been released in a paperback edition. Published by Broadway Books, it is on sale at a suggested price of $14.95. “Pilgrim’s Wilderness” follows the Papa and Country Rose Pilgrim family of 14 children from its beginnings in the Southwest to their arrival in Alaska in 1997. The family wandered around Alaska, including stays in Homer and Anchor Point, before finding what Papa Pilgrim called “Hillbilly Heaven” on a mining claim 13 miles out of the historic copper mining town of McCarthy. Since its publication in hardcover in 2013, “Pilgrim’s Wilderness” has gained rave reviews.

Publishers Weekly said the book “sends readers on a roller-coaster ride that is as thrilling as it is shocking.” The Minneapolis Star Tribune said it “reads like a bewitching, brilliant novel … destined to become a wilderness-tale classic.”
