Visiting North Carolina artist Diane Pike offers a plein air painting workshop, “Capturing Light and Color in the Landscape,” from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. daily today through Saturday. “Plein air” is painting done outdoors. The workshop will focus on how sunlight affects the perception of color and how the many keys of light and shadow can be translated to canvas. Instruction will include composition selection, sketching the scene, laying in big shapes, keeping clean color and basic brushwork tips. Sponsored by the Homer Council on the Arts, the workshop is $260 for members and $280 general admission. To register, visit HCOA at its offices at 355 W. Pioneer Ave. or online at www.homerart.org.
