Vance: Elect me as a catalyst for unity

Growing up here in Homer has given me a love for this community that has shaped my worldview. This love has empowered me to invest in our future as a leader who can bridge the gap of division and bring harmony.

It is no secret, I championed a cause of accountability of my firmly held beliefs for truth and transparency. I make no apologies for acting on my own conviction, but am also fully convinced that eventually; love never fails. *“Perfect love casts out fear.” It is up to use to seek the truth in one another and dispel the fear that lurks in the corners of this town. Let’s shake off the dust, and begin the healing process toward reconciliation. Elect me, Sarah Vance, as a catalyst for unity.

Many of you may feel powerless and hopeless in light of the current events and civil unrest in our nation. Some would have you believe you have no voice; that your vote doesn’t matter, or by contrast must participate in extremism in order to be heard. I am here to tell you, today: your voice as a voter is valued, and is indeed powerful!

The pen is mightier than the sword at the ballot box! YOU. You have the power to direct the future of our town. Your contribution as a voting member of Homer is priceless!

Now, is the time for your voice to be heard. Now, is the time to speak up and direct the course of this city.

Our nation was founded as a constitutional republic that gives power to its citizens to govern; where individuals collectively rule. The constitution of our incredible State of Alaska reads, *“All political power is inherent in the people. All government originates with the people, is founded upon their will only, and is instituted solely for the good of the people as a whole.”

Our city council is the governing body who holds the authority to shape justice, ordain laws, excise taxes, and inherently determine the quality of life for all who dwell within our borders. It is my understanding that only the self-governed truly enjoy life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Government begins with you. Who do you want to govern for you?

Allow me to be your arm of strength at city council. I will continue to stand for the voice of the people with justice and honor.

As a councilmember; I will represent all who inhabit Homer, and call this hamlet, home. This is my home, and I desire to see it flourish! With much dedication; I have attended almost every council meeting since February, and have read every council packet.

My priorities for city council is not only to maintain justice and honor, but to invest in projects that will generate revenue and create jobs within our city. A large vessel haulout, deep water dock, and lucrative homeless shelter are top of the list. Homer should be seeking ways to empower businesses while minimizing costs. Homer has a bright future; if only we will let her shine to her fullest potential!

There is much work to be done, and I will continue to stand for truth, act responsibly in leadership, and be accountable to my constituents.

Your vote matters, and it matters to me! Our current mayor originally won his seat on council by 5 votes. I’m counting on YOUR VOTE to put me over the top! Vote Sarah Vance on Tuesday, October 3rd.
